The New Orleans Chapter of the Alabama Alumni Association will be holding officer elections soon with the time and location to be announced ASAP.president

YOU’D PROBABLY MAKE A GOOD BOARD MEMBER IF YOU CAN:

  • work as a member of a team;
  • retain your own viewpoint while respecting the right of others to disagree; and
  • love The University of Alabama!

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RUN?

Candidates must be a member of The New Orleans Alabama Alumni Chapter at the time of the election and must also be or become a member of The University of Alabama Alumni Association.

WHAT IS REQUIRED OF BOARD MEMBERS?

Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings and The New Orleans Alabama Alumni Chapter events and to chair a committee or perform another equally important assignment. Board members are not compensated for their service.

HOW DO I NOMINATE SOMEONE ?

Nominations are made via e-mail prior to the election meeting. Nominating yourself is perfectly acceptable! Before you nominate someone else, check with them to be sure they’re are willing to serve if elected.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THE ELECTION?

All members in good standing (dues paid up) are eligible to vote. You will be able to join The New Orleans Alabama Alumni Chapter or renew your membership at our election meeting prior to the start of voting.

New Orleans Named Chapter Of The Year Tuesday, Apr 21 2009

Congratulations to the New Orleans Chapter of the Alabama Alumni Association for being named the 2008-2009 out of state chapter of the year. The chapter was presented a plaque and patch for the chapter banner. The presentation was made during A-Day weekend at the annual meeting of all alumni chapters. The award was also noted during the alumni luncheon. Congratulations to everyone who has contributed since the reforming of the chapter- whether it be serving as an officer, volunteering at the golf tournament, or simply attending chapter events. The chapter is only getting larger and better with every event. Congratulations and Roll Tide!

A-Day Spring Game on ESPN Monday, Mar 16 2009 

Alabama Spring Football The University of Alabama’s annual A-Day Game will be televised live to a national audience by ESPN on Saturday, April 18. A-Day is the 15th and final practice of the spring with kickoff from Bryant-Denny Stadium scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (CDT). Admission will once again be free to the public.

The Rusty Nail will be hosting an A-Day game watching party for those of you not making the trip to Tuscaloosa. The event will feature the A-Day game on the numerous TV’s and projector and all you can eat boiled crawfish for only $10! The party will begin at noon on April 18th.

Touchdown Club Honors Gene Stallings Tuesday, Feb 17 2009 

geneneworleansThe New Orleans Chapter of The University of Alabama Alumni Association congratulates Coach Gene Stallings for receiving the Collegiate Award from the Touchdown Club of New Orleans. The award recognizes outstanding contribution to the game of football. Coach Stallings will be presented the award at the annual awards banquet, hosted by former New Orleans Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert. All proceeds from the event go towards the Ray Hester Leukemia Research Fund at Ochsner Foundation.

In his first 2009 speaking engagement after National Signing Day, Tim will analyze Alabama Coach Nick Saban’s second full football recruiting class, future recruiting classes, and Alabama basketball recruiting. The presentation will include clips and highlights from all incoming players and a question and answer session.

Tim Watts is Managing Director and Senior Recruiting Analyst at BamaOnLine.com (”BOL”). BOL is an integral part of the Rivals.com sports network. Tim oversees the day-to-day management of BamaOnLine.com along with working as the publication’s senior football and basketball recruiting editor.

Sugar Bowl Events Wednesday, Dec 10 2008 

alabama-sugar-bowl1Congratulations to the Alabama Crimson Tide on their record 13th appearance in the New Orleans Sugar Bowl. It’s only fitting that Alabama play in the 75th anniversary considering that five of Alabama’s twelve National Championship seasons ended with a trip to the Sugar Bowl.

This section of the web site will be updated periodically with events and information for Alabama fans coming to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl. Please feel free to contact the New Orleans Alumni Chapter if you have any questions or comments about the local events.

December 30, 2008: 40th Annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Sugar Bowl Breakfast with featured speaker Anthony McFarland. The Breakfast is from 7:30am-9:00am in the Grand Ballroom of the Riverside Hilton.

December 31, 2008: Sugar Bowl Fan Fest will be in the Jax Brewery parking lot located at 600 Decatur Street in the French Quarter from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. Utah will be having their pep rally on site at 3:00pm.

December 31, 2008: Join Coach Nick Saban for the Nick Saban Show live at 6:00pm from the Armstrong Ballroom (Eighth Floor) at the Sheraton New Orleans at 500 Canal Street.  Drinks and food will be available for purchase. From 6:00 to 7:00, Tom Roberts, Barry Kraus, and Tyler Watts will host the show – with surprise guests. At 7:00 pm, Coach Saban will join the crew for a full hour.

December 31, 2008: Head to the French Quarter to watch the giant fleur de lis drop from on top of Jax Brewery at midnight, followed by fireworks over the Mississippi River!

January 1, 2009: Sugar Bowl Fan Fest will be in the Jax Brewery parking lot located at 600 Decatur Street in the French Quarter from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. Alabama will be having their pep rally on site at 2:30pm. The band Blues Traveler will be performing free of charge in the same area from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

January 1, 2009: The National Alumni Association presents a Riverboat tailgate party and pep-rally on the Creole Queen Riverboat. The three hour event includes a buffet dinner, open bar, music, and an evening on the Mississippi River. Big Al and the Alabama cheerleaders will also be on board. The boat will also have TV’s so you can enjoy the evening without missing any of the other bowl games.
Tickets are $40 for adults and $35 for ages 5 to 20. The boat boards from the Riverwalk/Canal Street dock at 6:00pm and will be on the river from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

January 2, 2009: Sugar Bowl Legends Luncheon featuring eight former Alabama players and coaches. Scheduled to speak at the luncheon are Archie Manning (on behalf of the returning players), Frank Broyles (on behalf of the coaches) and former SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer, the keynote speaker. The luncheon begins at 11:30am and will be in the Grand Ballroom of the Riverside Hilton.

January 2, 2009: Pre-game block party at the Rusty Nail (1100 Constance Street).  Party starts an 12:00pm and continues all afternoon and night.  They will also have the game playing on every TV for those that don’t have tickets.

January 2, 2009: The Sugar Bowl Fan Jam will be at the Superdome from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The event will be on the Gate C bridge and is free to the public. Fan Jam features a live show by The Alley Cats, food, interactive games and entertainment, including appearances by both schools’ bands and cheerleading squads.

January 2, 2009: Alabama vs. Utah at the Louisiana Superdome. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm. The game will be televised by Fox Sports.

12.11.08 Update: Thanks to everyone who came out for the annual Rock n’ Bowl party!  The chapter was successful in raising money for the scholarship fund and everyone had a great time.  Hope to see everyone again next year.  Below are a few pictures from the party. Thanks again and Roll Tide!
